She earned her doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology at William James College in Newton, MA, her M.A. in Psychology from American University, and her B.S. in Psychology from the College of William and Mary. She completed her APA internship and post-doctoral internship in community mental health centers in Massachusetts. Dr. Snigier has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health centers, clinics, schools, private practice, and with the Probate and Family Court System. Her graduate program had a focus on working with underserved children and families using a strengths-based approach to treatment. She is originally from Fredericksburg and is grateful to be working with the residents of her hometown.

Dr. Snigier has experience working with infants (and their parents), children, adolescents, and adults. She works with clients with a wide range of presenting concerns, the most common of which are PTSD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, learning challenges, behavioral concerns, and relationship/attachment issues. She has worked extensively with individuals and families
who have experienced trauma, attachment/relationship issues, and families involved in multiple services (including Special Education and child welfare). She also enjoys working with college students and young adults who are navigating the unique challenges of early adulthood.

Dr. Snigier has a specific interest in early childhood intervention, and has run groups promoting healthy infant/toddler development and provided consultation to daycare centers in MA. She enjoys working with new and expecting parents, parents of infants and toddlers, and young children (0-5) to promote healthy growth and development. In addition, Dr. Snigier provides psychological assessment for young children and school-aged children to further assess developmental concerns, learning concerns, or concerns about the impact of attention or behavior on school performance. She frequently works with schools to advocate for appropriate accommodations in educational settings.

Therapeutic Approach

Dr. Snigier focuses on individual and family strengths in her integrated approach to treatment.
She believes that clients are resilient and capable of solving their own challenges, but benefit
from the support of a professional. Dr. Snigier uses a variety of strategies/interventions from
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in an approach that is individualized to each client or
family. Dr. Snigier strives to create a collaborative, supportive relationship with each client or
family that will help empower them to meet their goals.
