TRAINING AND
EXPERIENCE |
Dr. Claire Hill completed her Master's (2016) and Doctoral (2021) degrees at the University of Hartford's Graduate Institute of Professional Psychology. Dr. Hill completed her doctoral internship at the University of New Hampshire Psychological and Counseling Services Department. Dr. Hill is from the Fredericksburg area, and has been providing services in this area since 2017.
Dr. Hill has a variety of experience working with teens and young adults, and has worked in various college counseling centers and boarding schools across New England and Virginia, including Eastern Connecticut State University, The Taft School, the University of Connecticut, and the University of Mary Washington. Much of her training and experience in these settings focused specifically around young adults dealing with acute crisis, chronic suicidality, persistent eating disorders, and recent and recurrent sexual trauma. Dr. Hill has spearheaded and participated in numerous outreach programs regarding sexual violence, eating disorders, and suicide prevention, particularly on college campuses. In private practice settings, Dr. Hill has worked with individuals (ages 15+) to treat a variety of presenting concerns. She has a special interest in helping young people navigate the unique challenges of late adolescence and early adulthood, including adjustment and related concerns, eating disorders and body image issues, relationship distress, LGBTQIA+ and transition, sexual trauma, and suicidality/self-harm. Dr. Hill works in collaboration with other professionals to provide wraparound care for clients. Dr. Hill has co-facilitated a number of groups including general process groups, LGBT+ groups, DBT skills groups, and body image focused groups. |
THERAPUTIC APPROACH

Dr. Hill operates from a humanistic/client-centered lens while integrating DBT, psychodynamic, and interpersonal approaches. She believes that clients are the experts of their own lives, and focuses on collaborative work with clients to foster growth and motivation. Dr. Hill strives to create a nonjudgmental, safe, and supportive environment for clients to practice skills and interventions used together in sessions.
