Training and Experience |
Addie completed her Master of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University and her Bachelor of Arts in Human Services at Virginia Wesleyan University. She is currently a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work completing supervised clinical hours to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. While a full-time student in the Master of Social Work program at Virginia Commonwealth University, Addie completed two field placements, one in private therapy practice and the other in a K-12 public school setting. In addition to part-time private practice, Addie is currently working as a School Social Worker in Spotsylvania County Public Schools.
Addie has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in the Fredericksburg region for over 20 years. She has experience in a variety of settings, including the juvenile justice system, department of corrections, and most recently as a school social worker. She has extensive experience working with vulnerable populations including children and adolescents with delinquency concerns, in foster care, with Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and homelessness. As a long-time resident of the Fredericksburg region, she is very familiar with local resources and agencies that may be helpful in supporting therapeutic goals. At WellSpring, Addie provides individual therapy for children and adolescents in middle school and high school, as well as adults. She enjoys working with clients with a variety of presenting concerns including depression and mood issues, anxiety, family or relationship conflict or stress, adjustment issues, LGBTQIA specific issues, mild substance use, and behavioral concerns. She offers after school/evening appointments in-person in the WellSpring office. |
Therapeutic Approach |
Addie uses an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from empirical techniques including mindfulness techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing techniques. She hopes to support clients in reducing symptoms, building insight, changing problematic patterns, and improving communication and relationships.
Addie is committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel supported and empowered. She believes therapy is an interactive and collaborative process and seeks to empower clients to take an active role in achieving their therapeutic goals. |
