Phone Ext: 11

Training and Experience

Kate received her Master's of Social Work from Catholic University, and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia. Kate has over 30 years of post-graduate experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, including residential, educational settings, and private practice. She currently provides individual therapy services for teens and adults.

Kate especially enjoys working with adults of all ages to promote a healthy and successful adjustment to the common transitional periods that occur throughout our lifespan, as well as individuals who are struggling with chronic illness or pain. We face many transitions throughout our adult life, including: adjusting to young adulthood, transitioning to college or into the workforce, adjusting to retirement, facing the changing physical and emotional challenges related to aging, adjusting to adult children leaving (or returning) to the home, and many others. Life never stops changing, and Kate is passionate about supporting individuals through the many twists and turns that they may face throughout their life. Kate also enjoys working with first-responders to address the unique challenges they face during their working years and beyond.

Kate is committed to helping people make practical and sustained changes in their lives, and approaches therapy with a direct, lighthearted, and personable manner. She has experience addressing parent-child conflicts, adolescent behavioral concerns, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD, trauma, LGBTQ specific issues, sexual abuse, relationship conflicts, and domestic violence.

Therapeutic Approach

Kate utilizes a strength-based, client-centered approach to assist individuals, couples and families to constructively resolve their difficulties and facilitate lasting change. She has been trained in Positive Peer Culture, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, EMDR, Co-occurring disorders, and Critical Incident Stress Management.
