Training and Experience 

Catharine Lloyd is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia. She completed her Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, and her Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

Catharine has experience providing behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She completed clinical internships at Fredericksburg Counseling Services and Mary Washington Hospital. Prior to entering private practice, Catharine worked in a community mental health setting providing individual therapy, group therapy, as well as drug court treatment. 

Catharine works with individuals who present with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment issues, family/relationship issues, and substance use disorders. She also has specialized training in addressing the unique needs of adoption, kinship, and foster families.

Therapeutic Approach

Catharine uses an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from techniques in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness practices, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She strives to create a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to reach their goals.
