Training and Experience 

Catharine Lloyd is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Virginia. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults experiencing a wide range of concerns related to anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment issues, family/relationship challenges, and problematic substance use. Catharine is also developing a specialization in working with individuals of all ages with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (and obsessive-compulsive traits). She is trained in both Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as well as Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), both evidence-based interventions to help individuals manage OCD symptoms, and she engages in ongoing training and consultation in these areas.
 
Catharine completed her Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, and her Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She completed clinical internships at Fredericksburg Counseling Services and Mary Washington Hospital. Prior to entering private practice, Catharine worked in a community mental health setting providing individual therapy, group therapy, as well as drug court treatment. 

Therapeutic Approach

Catharine uses an integrative treatment approach, drawing from various evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), mindfulness practices, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She is committed to creating a safe and collaborative therapeutic relationship where individuals and families feel heard, valued, and empowered to reach their goals.
