Parent Support Services
If you are looking at this page, chances are you have taken on (or are about to take on) the most wonderful and challenging endeavour of your life - parenting. Raising children is an exciting and rewarding part of life, and one that comes with no small share of stress. Our parenting services were developed by parents - who also happen to be clinical psychologists. We know this is a challenging time, and we are here to help support you. Our goal is to reduce parenting stress, increase support, provide the tools you need to be the most effective parent you can be, and most importantly, foster healthy, happy and rewarding relationships between you and the children you care for.
Private ConsultationThis is an individualized consultation with a psychologist, aimed at helping you develop a plan to help your family with a specific need(s) you are facing. A private consultation can be helpful if you want to determine what services may be helpful for your child or family, to discuss behavioral strategies, or to help brainstorm how to manage a specific problem or behavior. If you have a topic that you would like to address in a private consultation, please contact us to discuss whether a consultation is right for you. Prior to the consultation, you will complete a short questionnaire to help outline your concerns and goals for the session. Your consultant will review the form and will prepare any resources/handouts/materials prior to the session. In-person consultations are typically 2 hours and are problem/solution focused. Insurance does not cover consultations because no diagnosis is given. Consultations are $325, which covers all preparation, a 2 hour in-person meeting, and a 15-minute follow-up phone call.

GroupsGroups offer the opportunity to connect with other caregivers, to gain support and understanding from others who are going through similar things, and to gain ideas and learn from others. All groups are led by a psychologist who is trained in best parenting practices. See our Groups page for a list of current groups.

CoursesWhen you buy a new pencil sharpener, it comes with instructions. When you have/adopt a child, you essentially get the most complicated little thing on earth, with no instructions. Our belief is that effective parenting strategies exist, can be learned, and need to be taught. We are not born knowing how to read, drive a car, or even tie our shoes. These are all things we are taught (and figure out a bit on our own). Parenting is really no different. If you were lucky enough to have perfect caregivers, you may have learned a lot about parenting from them. Even so, there is probably a lot more to know. We strive to offer courses that will help you to be the very best parent you can be - and to enjoy it! Our Effective Parenting Course covers effective discipline strategies and how to maintain a healthy attachment to your child. Our New and Expecting Parents Course offers a broad range of support including how to adjust to life with an infant, how to maintain your personal relationships, forming healthy sleep, feeding, and nap routines, managing postpartum issues, and much more.
